Pre-authorized casino debits: cancel carefully and preserve the record
FCAC guidance supports checking a pre-authorized debit, using the correct cancellation route and retaining records. It does not decide a casino dispute or guarantee reimbursement.

Identify the payment arrangement
Read the statement and ask the financial institution whether the entry is a pre-authorized debit, recurring card charge or another instruction. The label matters because cancellation and dispute steps may differ.
Use a verified cancellation channel
Use the bank's published app, secure message or contact route. Keep the date, reference and confirmation. Cancelling a payment arrangement does not decide a separate casino account dispute.
Visible evidence signal
Amber means the payment type and current authority still need checking. A casino label on a statement does not by itself prove whether a debit was authorised or whether a refund is due.
Preserve the useful record
Keep the statement entry, terms, cancellation notice and correspondence. Redact passwords, full card numbers and identity documents from copies.
Escalate accurately
Tell the institution whether the concern is cancellation timing, a later debit or authority for a transaction. A clear timeline is more useful than a broad accusation, and no complaint route guarantees a reversal.
Avoid another deposit
Remove saved payment methods and seek gambling support if access or loss-chasing is the urgent issue.
